Trust

In the Bible, “trust” is one of the most important features of belief; to believe is to place your trust in God. So trust and faith are very close. The Old and New Testaments use the same word for “trust” as for “believe”.

  • In the Old Testament trust generally has to do with the choice between seeking support from unreliable people or things, and trusting in God alone.
  • In the New Testament trust often has to do with the call to trust in God’s goodness and his promises. In Paul’s letters, the word for “trust” is increasingly given the meaning: believe in God and in Jesus Christ.
