Peace

Nowadays, “peace” is usually understood to mean “a situation of rest, or the absence of war”. In the Bible, the concept of “peace” has a broader meaning. It relates to the “wholeness” of a person or a group of people. This could be social wholeness or it could be spiritual wholeness:

  • In the Old Testament, “peace” refers to the “wholeness” of a person or a group of people. This wholeness can be connected to safety, prosperity, health or spiritual well-being.
  • In the New Testament, the concept of “peace” has a broad meaning. It relates to many different aspects of a person or a group’s “wholeness”.
