Hoe

A hoe was used in agriculture to weed or to loosen the earth. A plow was used for larger areas of land.

The hoe consisted of a long, flat metal blade that was fastened at a right angle to a wooden handle.

Hoes have been used since the Stone Age. At that time, the blade was not yet made of metal but of sharpened flint.
