Grain Offering

Apart from animal sacrifices, there were also other types of offerings: grain offerings and wine offerings. The most common offering was a grain offering.

The rules for the grain offering can be found in Leviticus 2.

The Grain Offering

Grain offerings consisted of flour and oil, or different types of bread. Salt was added to all offerings as a sign of the covenant between God and his people. Incense was also burned at every grain offering.

A part of the grain offering was burned on the altar, the rest was served as food for the priests.
