Siege Towers

The siege tower or breaching tower was a high wooden tower used by attackers in the siege of a city. From the towers, arrows, stones and other projectiles could be launched over the city wall.
Attackers could also jump over the city wall from the towers, as is recorded for instance in 1 Maccabees 13:44.
A siege tower was often used in combination with a battering ram. From the tower, soldiers could defend the wagon carrying the battering ram and keep it wet.
