Siege Ramp

A siege ramp was a wall made of earth which attackers heaped up against the city wall of a besieged city. They rolled their battering rams along the siege ramp to smash down the city wall. This was because cities were usually situated in an elevated position to make it difficult for attackers to reach the walls.
