Perjury

The committing of perjury was prohibited. Lying as a witness in a trial was seen as a serious transgression. Anyone who committed perjury was punished. He was given the punishment required of the suspect.
Anyone who lied that he had not stolen something, or anyone who lied that he did not have someone else’s property in his possession, was committing perjury. To make good for lying under oath, people had to pay a fine of 20 percent of what they had stolen, and present a restitution offering.
