Stoa

The Stoa is the doctrine of the Stoics, who followed the ideas of the philosophical school of Zeno, founded around 300 BC. People who adhered to this philosophy are mentioned in the book of Acts.

Philosophy of the Stoa

The Stoa describes man as the only rational being. Man can learn the Laws of God and act accordingly. This means, among other things, that the human being must strive for self-control and autonomy. He must also make an active contribution to society.

Paul in Athens

The Stoic philosophers are mentioned in Acts 17:18 together with the followers of Epicurus. Paul enters into discussion with them when he is in Athens.
