Leader in the New Testament
In New Testament times there were different forms of leadership. The most important types of leaders were:
- deacons
; - apostles
; - rabbis
; - overseers or church leaders
; - elders or presbyters
. - Women
could also fulfil some of these roles.
Modern Day
Today, titles like deacon, elder and presbyter still exist in some churches. These titles have been derived from Greek terms, but the interpretation of the roles has changed to a certain degree over time.
