1 Peter: Structure

The first letter from Peter is a carefully written letter in the name of the apostle Peter.

Summary of Contents

The letter has a carefully constructed framework, in which the writer greets his readers (1 Peter 1:1-2) and again takes his leave of them (1 Peter 5:12-14).
Between the beginning and the end the writer encourages them to lead an exemplary, “holy”, life. He also gives reasons to do this in practice, despite the discrimination and mockery to which the Christians are exposed.
