We must listen to the Son of God
1That is why we must listen even more to the things that the Son of God said. We must do this so that we do not become like a boat that floats past the safe harbour and sinks and goes down into the wild sea. 2Remember that the message the angels gave our forefathers was the truth. That is why God punished everyone who did not listen to that message and the things that He said. He punished the people who had done wrong. 3If we do not accept the grace of God, if we do not want Him to save us, we will not be able to flee when He punishes us. The Lord has saved us in a wonderful way. In the beginning He told us about it Himself. Then other people believed this and they also told us that the Lord wants to save us and that his message is true. 4God also showed that this message is true when He showed us signs, miracles and different great deeds and when the Holy_Spirit gave gifts to believers as He decided to give them.
The angels seemed to be more important than Jesus for a while
5God did not say that the angels could rule the new world that is coming, that we told you about. 6But someone wrote something very important in the Old_Testament when he asked:
‘Why do You think about people, O God?
Why do You care for someone as weak as a man?
7You made him
less important than the angels
for a short while.
But You have given him honour
and You have made him important.
8You let him rule over everything
that You have made.’
When God said that people can rule over everything that He has made, there was nothing that God left out. He wanted people to rule over everything. But we do not see people ruling over everything yet. 9No, but we see Jesus, and God made Him less important than the angels for a short while. Jesus suffered a lot and He died, so God gave Him honour and made Him important. Jesus died so that everyone can live because God is very good to people.
Jesus is the true Human
10God made everything and all of it was made to honour Him. He wants to bring many people to Him, the King, and that is why God had to let Jesus suffer so much. Jesus had to finish his work to become the Leader that could save his people. 11Yes, Jesus consecrated people to belong to Him. He and the people that He consecrated all have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to say we are his brothers and sisters. 12Jesus said:
‘I will tell my friends what You have done.
I will praise You where they are together.’
13Jesus also said:
‘I will trust in Him and I will not stop.’
He also said: ‘Here I am with the children
that God has given Me.’
14These children were real people and that is why Jesus also had to become a real Human, like them. Jesus became a Man so that He could die and that is how He could take away all the power of the devil, who has power over death. 15Jesus became a Man so that He could free the people who were slaves for as long as they lived because they were afraid to die. 16This is sure: Jesus was not worried about the angels. He was worried about the children_of_Abraham. 17That is why He had to become like his brothers in every way, so that He could help them by becoming a High-priest who was faithful so that He could make atonement for the sins of people and make them right with God. 18Jesus Himself suffered a lot and the devil also tempted Him, and that is why He can help people when the devil wants to tempt them.
