How to purify someone who was a leper
1The Lord said to Moses: 2‘This is what you must do when someone was a leper but is healed and you must purify him. You must take him to the priest. 3The priest must go outside of the camp to look at the person. If the sore has healed and he is no longer leprous, 4then the priest must tell the person to bring 2 pure birds that are alive and a piece of cedar wood, a piece of red wool and a hyssop-branch. 5The priest must tell the person to cut off the head of one of the birds over a clay pot with fresh water.
6Then the priest must take the bird which is still_alive and the piece of cedar wood, the piece of red wool and the hyssop-branch and he must put it into the blood of the dead bird. 7He must take some of the blood and water and sprinkle it 7 times on the person that he must purify. Then the priest must tell the person that he is pure and the priest must go to the field and he must let the bird which is still_alive fly away.
8The person who has become pure must wash his clothes and he must shave and cut off all his hair and he must wash himself. He is pure and he may come into the camp but he must stay outside of his tent for 7 days. 9On the 7th day he must shave and cut off all of his hair again. He must shave all of his hair, his beard and the hair above his eyes and he must wash himself and his clothes. Then he will be pure and he may go into his tent.
10On the 8th day he must bring 2 ram-lambs and a ewe-lamb which is one-year-old to the priest. All the lambs must be healthy. He must also sacrifice a grain-offering of 3 10ths of an ephah of the best flour and he must bring one log of olive oil. 11The priest who must purify the person must take him to the entrance of the tent of the Lord. 12The priest must then take one ram-lamb and he must sacrifice it with the log of olive oil. This is a guilt-offering and the priest must move it before the Lord. It is also a move-offering. 13The priest must then kill the ram-lamb at the same place where they kill the animals for the sin-offerings and the burnt-offerings. He must kill it at the holy place because the priest gets the sin-offerings and the guilt-offerings. This is a most_holy_offering.
14Then the priest must take some of the blood of the guilt-offering and he must put it on the right ear of the person that he is purifying. He must also put it onto the thumb of his right hand and the big toe of his right foot. 15The priest must then take some of the olive oil in his left hand 16and he must put his right forefinger into the oil. He must sprinkle the oil before the Lord 7 times. 17The priest must then take some of the oil in his left hand and put it onto the right ear of the person who must be purified. He must also put some oil onto the thumb of his right hand and big toe of his right foot, over the blood of the guilt-offering. 18The priest must then take some of the oil that is left over in his left hand and put it onto the head of the person that he must purify and the priest must make atonement before the Lord for the person. 19Then the priest must sacrifice the sin-offering and make atonement for the person so that the person will not be impure anymore. Then the priest must kill the lamb for the burnt-offering 20and he must sacrifice the burnt-offering and grain-offering on the altar. This is how the priest must make atonement for the person and then the person will be pure.
21If the person is poor and he has no money to pay for lambs, then he must bring one ram-lamb for a guilt-offering. This is also a move-offering so that the priest can make atonement for him. He must also bring one 10th of an ephah of the best flour that he has mixed with olive oil. This is for the grain-offering. The person must also bring a log of olive oil 22and 2 doves if he has money to buy them. One dove is for a sin-offering and the other dove is for a burnt-offering. 23On the 8th day the person must bring the lamb and the doves to the priest who has to purify him before the Lord. He must bring them to the entrance of the tent of the Lord. 24The priest must take the lamb and the oil and he must move them before the Lord to be a move-offering. 25Then the priest must kill the lamb which is for the guilt-offering. He must take some of the blood and put it onto the right ear of the person that he must purify and put some blood onto the thumb of his right hand and onto the big toe of his right foot.
26Then the priest must pour some of the oil into his left hand 27and with his right forefinger he must sprinkle it 7 times in front of the Lord. 28Then the priest must take some of the olive oil in his hand and put it on the person's right ear and onto the thumb of his right hand, and onto the big toe of his right foot. He must put it over the blood for the guilt-offering. 29The priest must then take the oil that is left over in his hand and put it onto the head of the person that he must purify. That is how he must make atonement before the Lord for the person. 30Then the priest must sacrifice the doves. 31One dove must be for a sin-offering and the other dove must be for a burnt-offering with the grain-offering. The priest must make atonement before the Lord for the person who must be purified. 32This is what the priest must do for someone who has had a leprous sore if the person does not have money to pay for these offerings.’
Mildew on the walls of a house
33The Lord talked to Moses and Aaron and He said: 34‘I will give you the land of Canaan. It will belong to you and you will go into the land. If I put mildew on the walls of a house in that land, 35then the person whose house it is must come to the priest and tell him: “I see that there is something like mildew growing on the walls of my house.”
36The priest must tell them to take everything out of the house before he goes to look at the house. Then everything in the house will not be impure. Then the priest must look at the mildew. 37If the priest sees that the mildew on the walls of the house is green or red and it is deep into the wall, 38then the priest must go out of the house and he must close the doors and lock up the house for 7 days. 39If the priest comes back on the 8th day and he sees that the mildew on the wall of the house has become more, 40then the priest must tell them to take out the stones that have mildew and throw them away at an impure place outside the town. 41They must take the clay off the inside of the walls of the house and they must throw it away at an impure place outside the town. 42Then they must take other stones and clay and put them into the wall and repair the walls.
43If the mildew comes back and starts to grow on the walls again after they have taken out the stones and clay from the walls and repaired them, 44then the priest must go to the house and if he sees that the mildew is there again, then it is bad mildew and the house is impure. 45Then they must break down the house and throw away the stones and the clay that is impure, at a place outside the town. 46If the priest has closed the house and locked it and someone goes into the house, then he is impure until that night. 47Anyone who sleeps or eats in that house must wash his clothes.
48But if they have repaired the house and the priest sees that the mildew has not come back and does not grow on the walls of the house anymore, then the priest must tell them that the house is pure because the mildew has gone. 49If the priest wants to purify the house, he must take 2 birds and a piece of cedar wood and a piece of red wool and a hyssop-branch. 50He must kill one of the birds over a clay pot with fresh water. 51Then he must take the cedar wood and hyssop-branch and the piece of red wool and the bird which is still_alive and he must put them all into the blood and water. He must sprinkle some of the blood and water against the house 7 times. 52The priest must use the blood of the bird and the water and the bird that is still_alive and the cedar wood and hyssop-branch and the red piece of wool to purify the house. 53Then he must go to the field and let the bird which is alive fly away. This is how he must make atonement for the house and then the house will be pure.
54This is what you must do when someone has a sore that you think is leprous, 55or when there is mildew on clothes or spots against a wall of a house, 56or when someone has a sore that swells or a bad spot or a mark on his skin. 57The priest must come and say if it is pure or impure. These are the laws about leprosy.’
