Um(Imi)bhalo weBhayibheli

Ihubo 27

Ukujabulela uNkulunkulu nezwi lakhe

ElikaDavide.

1UJehova ungukukhanya kwami nensindiso yami;

ngizakwesaba bani na?

UJehova uyinqaba yokuphila kwami;

ngizakuba novalo ngobani na?

2Ekusondeleni kwababi ukuba badle inyama yami

abamelene nami nezitha zami bayakhubeka, bawe.

3Noma impi imisa ngakimi,

inhliziyo yami ayesabi;

noma ngivukelwa ngukulwa,

nokho nginethemba.

4Kunye engikucele kuJehova,

ngiyakufuna khona:

ukuba ngihlale endlini kaJehova

izinsuku zonke zokuphila kwami

ukubona ubuhle bukaJehova,

ngibuke ithempeli lakhe.

5Ngokuba uyangithukusa edokodweni lakhe

ngosuku lokuhlupheka,

angicashise ekusithekeni kwetende lakhe,

angiphakamisele edwaleni.

6Nakalokhu ikhanda lami lizakuphakama

ngaphezu kwezitha zami ezingihaqileyo;

ngizakunikela iminikelo yokwethaba etendeni lakhe,

ngihlabelele, ngidumise uJehova ngogubhu.

7Yizwa, Jehova, ngikhala ngezwi elikhulu;

yiba nomusa kimi, ungiphendule.

8Kuwena othi: “Funani ubuso bami,”

inhliziyo yami ithi:

“Ubuso bakho, Jehova, ngiyabufuna.”

9Ungafihli ubuso bakho kimi,

ungaxoshi inceku yakho ngokuthukuthela;

wena ulusizo lwami, ungangilahli,

ungangishiyi,

Nkulunkulu wensindiso yami.

10Ngokuba ubaba nomame bangishiyile,

kodwa uJehova uzakungamukela.

11Ngifundise indlela yakho, Jehova,

ungihole endleleni ekhanyayo

ngenxa yezitha zami.

12Unganginikeli entandweni yezitha zami;

ngokuba ofakazi bamanga bangivukele kanye nabafutha

ukudlozomela.

13Yeka, uma bengingathembanga ukubona

okuhle kukaJehova ezweni labaphilayo!

14Lindela uJehova, uqine,

inhliziyo yakho ime isibindi;

yebo, lindela uJehova.

Ihubo 27:1-14ZUL59NOVula kumfundi weBhayibheli

Psalm 27, like Psalm 91, is a psalm of protection. The poet continues to trust in God through everything that happens to him. The situations he describes are intense. Yet, he remains confident.

The contrast between war and trust in God is great. Above all, the poet wants to be close to God, in God’s house. He is confident that God will not only protect him, but also lead the way – a safe way, to God himself.

The psalmist closes his text with confidence. He says, “I know that I will live to see the LORD’s goodness in this present life” (Good News Translation). He has this expectation on God. “Trust in the LORD,” he repeats, determined (Good News Translation).

What do you recognise in yourself about the firm confidence that the psalmist has?
