IINDUMISO 103

Izibele zikaThixo

Umhobe kaDavide.

1Mbonge *uNdikhoyo, moya wam!

Mandimbonge uNdikhoyo ngomxhelo wam wonke!

2Moya wam, mbonge uNdikhoyo,

ungaze uyilibale imisebenzi yakhe emihle nanini-nanini:

3uloxolela zonk' izono zam;

ulophilisa zonk' izifo endinazo;

4ulohlangula ubomi bam enzonzobileni,

5ulondenzel' izintw' ezintle ebomini,

ndihlale ndingumqaba-qaba njengokhozi.

6NguNdikhoyo obonelela abacinezelweyo ubulungisa;

ewe, nguye obagwebelayo bonke ngokungenaxanasi.

7Wamazisa icebo lakhe uMosis;

wawabonisa amaSirayeli amandla akhe.

8UNdikhoyo unenceba nesisa;

uqumba kade, yimvuze-mvuze enobubele.

9Kaloku akasolok' engxolisa, yaye akananqala.

10Akasohlwayi njengoko sifanelwe kukohlwaywa,

engaziphindezeli ngokwezigqitho zethu.

11Kungangokuba kude kwesibhakabhaka emhlabeni

ukubalasela kwezibele zakhe kwabamhlonelayo;

12ulogxoth' izono zithi qelele kuthi

njengempumalanga nentshonalanga.

13Bufana nomzali kubantwana

ububele bukaNdikhoyo kwabamnik' imbeko.

14Kaloku uyasazi into esiyiyo;

uyaqonda ukuba siluthuli.

15Yen' okokwakhe umntu uyafana nje nengca:

uyakhula, achume okwentyatyambo.

16Suka uvuthuze won' umoya,

iphephethek' intyatyambo,

ingab' ibekho kuloo ndaw' ibikad' ikuyo.

17Ke zon' izibele zikaNdikhoyo zivelela abamhloneleyo;

uhlala enobubele kwizizukulwana ngezizukulwana,

18kwabanyanisekileyo kumnqophiso wakhe

nabathobela imithetho yakhe.

19UNdikhoyo ungqendev' esihlalweni sakhe ebhotw' ezulwini;

ulawulo lwakhe luqhakamshela ihlabathi liphela.

20Mbongeni uNdikhoyo, nina zithunywa zakhe ezinamandla;

mbongeni, nina nibalasele ngokumthobela;

liphulaphuleni ilizwi lakhe.

21Mbongeni, uNdikhoyo, nina mikhosi yezulu;

mbongeni, nina zicaka zakhe.

22Nani zidalwa, khanimbonge nonke,

Nawe, moya wam, mbonge uNdikhoyo!

Forgiveness in the Psalms – 2

The Psalm starts with David exhorting his soul to praise God.  One of the reasons to praise God is forgiveness parallel to healing from diseases.  It is, in this instance, a metaphor for the restoration of the moral and spiritual life.  This leads to renewal and restoration.

Verse 12 is also a metaphor.  The distance between North and South can be measured from the different poles, but the distance between East and West – immeasurable.  Verse 13 reminds the reader of God’s compassion to those showing respect to Him.
