*Psalms 119

₁The Lord blesses people

who live in the right way and

who obey the laws of the Lord.

₂He blesses people who do

what God's rules say

and who live with Him and

try to please Him with all their hearts,

₃people who don't do things that are wrong,

but follow Him in everything that He says.

₄Lord, You have told us

what You want us to do,

and You want us to do it

exactly as You said.

₅I pray that I will always

listen to your laws.

₆Then I will not be ashamed

if I obey all your commandments.

₇When I learned how fair your rules are,

I praised You with an honest heart.

₈I will do what You say in your laws.

Please don't ever leave me.

₉What must young people do

to live purely like the Lord wants?

They must live like You say in your Word.

₁₀I want to be with You

and obey You with all my heart.

Please don't let me forget your commandments.

₁₁I always think of what You have said

so that I will not sin_against You.

₁₂Lord, I praise you.

Please teach me what your laws say.

₁₃I want to tell people everything

that You have decided.

₁₄It makes me happy to live like You say,

as happy as people are

when they become rich.

₁₅I will remember

what You have told us to do,

and I will listen carefully to the things

that You want.

₁₆I will always be happy about your laws,

and I will not forget what You have said.

₁₇Please be good to me,

your servant, so that I can live

and obey your Word.

₁₈Please open my eyes

so that I can see how wonderful

the things are that You teach us.

₁₉I am a stranger on earth.

Please don't hide

your commandments from me.

₂₀My heart longs all the time

to find out what You say in your rules.

₂₁You rebuke people who are proud

and who don't want to listen

to your commandments.

₂₂Please don't let people

mock and humiliate me,

because I have done what You have said.

₂₃Even if important people

make plans against me,

I, your servant,

will always think about your laws.

₂₄What You say makes me happy,

and it tells me what to do.

₂₅I am lying down on the ground

like someone who is going to die.

Please keep me alive

as You have promised.

₂₆When I told You about

the trouble in my life,

You answered me.

Please teach me what your laws say.

₂₇Please help me understand

what You have commanded

so that I can think about all

the wonderful things that You have done.

₂₈I am melting away

because of my pain and problems.

Please make me strong again

like You said You would.

₂₉Please help me not to be dishonest,

but be gracious to me and teach me your laws.

₃₀I have chosen to be faithful,

I want to do only what your rules say.

₃₁Lord, I hold on to what You say.

Please help me to know

what to do and not to be ashamed.

₃₂I want to live as You say

in your commandments,

because You have helped me understand them.

₃₃O Lord, please tell me

what your laws mean

and I will always do what they say.

₃₄Help me to understand your laws

so that I can do what You tell me

and obey them with all my heart.

₃₅Let me live as You say

in your commandments,

because that makes me really happy.

₃₆Help me always to want to do

what You say and

not to choose to become rich.

₃₇Help me so that I don't want things

that are worthless, and let me live

with You and do as You want.

₃₈Please give me what

You have promised so that

I will always fear and worship You.

₃₉I am afraid of being ashamed.

Please don't let it happen to me

because your rules are good.

₄₀I long for the things that You teach.

You are righteous and that is what gives me life.

₄₁Lord, please show me your love

that will never end, and

save me as You have promised.

₄₂Then I will answer the people

who mock me,

because I trust in what You say.

₄₃Please help me always

to tell the truth because

I believe in your rules.

₄₄I will always do what your laws say,

forever and ever.

₄₅I will live like a free man

because I have tried to do

what You have ordered.

₄₆I will tell kings what You have said.

I will know what to say

and I will not be ashamed.

₄₇I enjoy obeying your commandments

because I love them.

₄₈I will show that

I respect your commandments.

I love them and I will always

think about your laws.

₄₉Please remember what You said

to me, your servant.

It made me hope that You will help me.

₅₀When I suffer, it comforts me

because the things that You have promised

give me new life.

₅₁Proud people always laugh at me,

but I did not stop doing

what You have taught me in your laws.

₅₂Lord, when I think of

what You decided long ago,

it makes me feel better.

₅₃I become very angry with people

who do wrong and

don't want to do what your laws say.

₅₄I will sing about your rules

for as long as I live on this earth.

₅₅Lord, I think of your name at night

and I do what You have taught us.

₅₆This is how the Lord has blessed me,

so that I may obey his commandments.

₅₇Lord, I have chosen to follow You,

and I promise that I will do what You say.

₅₈I beg You with all my heart,

please have mercy on me as You have promised.

₅₉When I think about my life,

I always decide to follow your rules.

₆₀I am in a hurry, and I can not wait

to do and obey your commandments.

₆₁When sinful people

want to catch me in their traps,

I don't forget what You taught us in your laws.

₆₂In the middle of the night I get up

to thank You because everything

that You have decided is right.

₆₃I am a friend of everyone

who serves and worships You

and those who do what You have told them.

₆₄Lord, the earth is full of your love

for us, your love that will never end.

Please teach me what your laws say.

₆₅Lord, You have been good

to me, your servant,

like You said in your Word.

₆₆Please teach me to know

what is right and what is wrong,

because I believe

that your commandments are right.

₆₇Before I suffered,

I did things that are wrong,

but now I do what You tell me.

₆₈You are good and You do

things that are good.

Please teach me what your laws say.

₆₉Proud people tell lies about me,

but I do what You tell me to do

with all my heart.

₇₀They don't want to understand

what You tell us,

but it pleases me to do what You teach us.

₇₁It was good that You made me suffer,

because it taught me

to understand your commandments.

₇₂The things that You teach me

are better than thousands of pieces of gold and silver.

₇₃You have made me with your hands.

Please help me understand your ways

so that I will know your commandments.

₇₄The people who serve You

will rejoice when they see me

because I have trusted in your Word.

₇₅Lord, I know that your rules

are good and right,

and that You cause me to suffer because

You are faithful and good to me.

₇₆Please comfort me with your love

that will never end,

and do what You have promised me, your servant.

₇₇Have mercy on me so that I will live

because I love the things

that You teach us in your laws.

₇₈Please humiliate those proud people

because they told lies about me

and they accused me falsely.

I want to think about the things

that You have told me to do.

₇₉Let the people who serve You

come to me,

so that I can tell them what You have said.

₈₀I want to obey your laws completely

so that I will not be ashamed.

₈₁I am waiting and longing

for You to save me.

I trust in your Word

and the things that You say.

₈₂My eyes are tired of looking out

for the things that You have promised.

Lord, when will You comfort me?

₈₃I am like an old skin-bag that has been

hanging in smoke for a long time,

but I do not forget your laws.

₈₄I am your servant.

How long must I wait?

How long will I still_be_alive?

When will You punish those people

who hate and hurt me?

₈₅The proud people have dug holes

for me to fall in,

and they don't live like your laws say.

₈₆All your commandments are good,

and people can trust them.

I have done nothing wrong against them,

but people persecute me. Please help me.

₈₇I have done what You told me,

but they want to kill me,

and they almost did it.

₈₈Your love for me will never end.

It gives me life so that

I can do what You said in your laws.

₈₉Lord, your Word will always be true.

It will continue in heaven and never change.

₉₀You are faithful to all generations.

You put the earth where it is

and it is still there.

₉₁Everything is still there

where You decided

because everyone and everything

does what You have told them.

₉₂I love the things that You teach us.

If that were not_true,

then I would have died

because of all my suffering.

₉₃I will never forget the things

that You told us to do, because in them,

You have given me life.

₉₄I belong to You. Please save me,

because I look at your rules

to see what is right.

₉₅The sinful people

are waiting to destroy me,

but I will think of everything

that You have said.

₉₆I have seen that nothing on earth is perfect,

but your commandments are perfect.

They are wonderful, without any fault.

₉₇I love the things that You teach me,

and I think about them all day long.

₉₈Your commandments

have given me wisdom,

more than my enemies have,

because your teachings are always with me.

₉₉I became wiser than the people

who were my teachers,

because I always think

about everything that You have said.

₁₀₀I understand your ways better

than people who are older than I am

because I do what You have ordered.

₁₀₁I don't want to do anything wrong.

I want to do only what You say.

₁₀₂I keep on doing what You have said

in your rules because You are my Teacher.

₁₀₃Your words and promises are very sweet.

They are sweeter than honey in my mouth.

₁₀₄The things You say

help me to understand your ways,

and that is why I hate everything that is false.

₁₀₅Your Word is a lamp for my feet

and a light in the darkness

to show me how I must live.

₁₀₆I will do what I have promised.

I will do what You have decided

because it is always right.

₁₀₇I am suffering badly.

Please give me new life, O Lord,

as You said You would.

₁₀₈Lord, please accept my offering

of praise to You.

I want to do it and I want You

to teach me your rules.

₁₀₉My life is always in danger.

I could die any day,

but I will not forget your laws.

₁₁₀Sinful people want to catch me in a trap,

but I keep on doing what You said.

₁₁₁Your laws and

the things that You teach me

are the most valuable things

that I have inherited from You,

and they make my heart rejoice.

₁₁₂I have decided to do

only what your laws say

for as long as I live.

₁₁₃I don't like people who are hypocritical.

I love the things that You taught us.

₁₁₄You are my place of safety

that always protects me.

I know that You will do what You have said.

₁₁₅Go away from me,

you people who are full of sin,

so that I can do what the

commandments of my God say.

₁₁₆Lord, please keep me

upright as You have promised,

and let the things happen that I hope for.

₁₁₇Hold me up so that I will be safe

and always want to do

what You say in your laws.

₁₁₈You don't accept people

who disobey your rules because

the lies that they tell will not help them.

₁₁₉You will throw away all

sinful people of the world like rubbish.

This is why I love the things that You say.

₁₂₀I tremble because I fear You,

and I respect your laws very much.

₁₂₁I have done what is right,

and I have lived as You want.

Please don't leave me,

and don't let the people

who want to oppress me get me.

₁₂₂Promise me that You

will help me, your servant.

Don't let proud people oppress me.

₁₂₃My eyes are tired

from looking out for You

to save me and do what

You have promised me.

₁₂₄Please show me your love

that will never end,

to me, your servant,

and teach me what your laws say.

₁₂₅I am your servant.

Please help me understand your ways

so that I will know what your words mean.

₁₂₆Lord, please do something

to the people who are disobeying your laws,

and please punish them.

₁₂₇Truly, I love your commandments

more than gold,

more than a lot of fine gold.

₁₂₈I always try to do everything

that You have said,

and I hate anything that is false.

₁₂₉The things that You say are wonderful,

and that is why I do what You tell me.

₁₃₀If someone understands your words,

it is like a light that shines in the dark.

It gives wisdom to young people.

₁₃₁I am hungry for your commandments,

hungry like someone who opens

his mouth and waits for something to eat.

₁₃₂Please look at me and

be gracious and have mercy on me,

like You always do for people

who love your name.

₁₃₃Please help me to continue

to live as You say and

don't let any sin rule over me

or become too strong for me.

₁₃₄Please save me from people

who want to oppress me,

so that I can do what You ask me.

₁₃₅Please be near me

and be good to me, your servant,

and teach me what your laws say.

₁₃₆My tears run like rivers of water

because of the people

who don't want to listen to your laws.

₁₃₇Lord, You are righteous

and your rules are always right.

₁₃₈Everything that You have said

is right, and people can always trust in it.

₁₃₉I become very angry

when my enemies forget

what You have said.

₁₄₀Everything that You have promised

has come true, and that is why I,

your servant, love what You say.

₁₄₁I am small and unimportant,

but I have not forgotten what You have said.

₁₄₂You are righteous

and You will always do what is right.

The things that You have taught us

will always be true.

₁₄₃When I suffered and had a lot of trouble,

I loved to keep your commandments.

₁₄₄Your rules are always right.

Please help me to understand them

so that I will live.

₁₄₅Lord, I pray and ask You

₁₅₀The people who persecute me

and want to destroy me

are not far away from me.

But they are far away

from the things that You teach us.

₁₅₁But You are near, Lord,

and all your commandments are true.

₁₅₂Long ago I learned from your laws

that You have made them

to be true and important forever.

₁₅₃Please look at how much I suffer

and save me,

because I have not forgotten

what You taught us in your laws.

₁₅₄Please help me

when people accuse me.

Free me like You promised to do

and let me live.

₁₅₅You will not save sinful people,

because they don't want to do

what your laws say.

₁₅₆Lord, You are very good and gracious.

Please give me life like You have decided.

₁₅₇There are many enemies

who want to catch me,

but I keep on doing what You say.

I will not forget it or do something else.

₁₅₈When I look at people who are unfaithful,

I become upset because

they do not obey your commandments.

₁₅₉Lord, please see how I love your Word

and the things that You tell us.

Please give me life,

as You have promised.

₁₆₀Everything that You said

will always be true.

It will not change,

and all your laws are right and will stay forever.

₁₆₁I have done nothing wrong,

but important people persecute me.

I don't fear them. I fear your Word.

₁₆₂I am very happy about your promises,

like people are when they find a great treasure.

₁₆₃I hate people who are false.

I don't like them,

but I love your laws and

the things that You teach us.

₁₆₄Lord, I praise You 7 times every day

because your rules

and what You decide are right.

₁₆₅People who love your rules and teachings

have peace in their hearts.

Nothing can defeat them or make them fall.

₁₆₆Lord, I know that You will save me,

and I do what You tell me in your commandments.

₁₆₇I keep on doing what You say in your Word,

and I love doing it.

₁₆₈I keep on doing what You say

in your laws and rules,

because You know everything that I do.

₁₆₉Lord, please listen to my prayer,

and please help me understand your words.

₁₇₀Please listen when I beg You,

and save me as You have promised.

₁₇₁I will keep on praising You,

because You have taught me

what You want me to do.

₁₇₂I will sing about your promises,

because all of your commandments are right.

₁₇₃Please take me and help me,

because I chose to do what You ordered.

₁₇₄Lord, I want You to save me.

I love your teachings.
