MAELE 27:1SSO89SOBula ka mmadi wa Bibele

This well-known and often quoted verse offers a profound reminder of the unpredictability of life and the importance of humility. It warns us against boasting about tomorrow, underscoring the reality that we cannot foresee the future. While planning and setting goals are wise practices, we must acknowledge that the ultimate control over our lives rests with God, not ourselves.

The wisdom in this proverb encourages us to live with a humble awareness of our limitations. We often assume we have all the time in the world to accomplish our plans, dreams, and aspirations. Yet, the truth is that we do not know what the next day, hour, or even minute will bring. Life’s uncertainties remind us to rely on God, who holds our future in his hands.

Humility in planning means seeking God’s will and guidance, recognising that he alone knows what lies ahead. It involves trusting his timing and being open to his direction, even when it diverges from our own plans. This reliance on God fosters a deeper faith and a more grounded perspective, freeing us from the anxiety and pride that come with trying to control our own destiny.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the wisdom of your Word that reminds us of our need for humility and reliance on you. Help us to seek your guidance in all our plans and to live each day with a trustful heart, knowing that you hold our future. Teach us to live humbly, acknowledging our limitations and dependence on your grace. May we find peace in your sovereignty and confidence in your loving care. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
