In today’s verse Paul emphasises the urgency of responding to God’s call without delay. He quotes from Isaiah 49:8, reminding us of God’s promise to hear and help his people. Paul then makes a compelling declaration: “Now is the time of God’s favour, now is the day of salvation.” This verse calls us to recognise the immediacy and importance of embracing God’s offer of salvation and living in his grace.
Paul appeals to the Corinthians to not receive God’s grace in vain. He is urging them – and us – not to put off responding to God’s call. The message is clear: salvation is not something to be postponed. The opportunity to accept God’s grace and to live in his favour is available now.
In a world filled with distractions and delays, it’s easy to think we have plenty of time to get right with God. However, Paul’s words serve as a sobering reminder that the present moment is all we truly have. We must not wait for a more convenient time to turn to God and to align our lives with his will. Today is the day to embrace his salvation and to live fully for him.
For many of us who have been Christians a long time, it can be easy to forget the importance of each moment and the opportunities God gives us to live out our faith. Let this urgency motivate us to share the gospel, serve others, and grow in our relationship with God. Today, may you be inspired to respond to God’s call, to live each moment for his glory, knowing that now is the time of his grace.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your grace and the gift of salvation. Help us to recognise the urgency of responding to your call today. If there are areas in our lives that need to be surrendered to you, give us the courage to do so now. Help us to live each day with a sense of purpose and urgency, sharing your love and grace with those around us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
