My Rock, why have You forgotten me?
Tell the leader of the choir that this is a song of the Korah group.
1I long for You, O God,
like a deer that is thirsty
and longs for streams of water.
2I am thirsty and
I want to be with my God,
the living God.
When can I come to God
and serve Him in his temple?
3I cry every day and night.
My tears are my food.
People keep asking me:
‘Where is your God?’
4When I remember this,
I become sad when I talk.
I remember how I led people
to God's temple.
There were a lot of people and
we sang songs and praised the Lord.
5I ask myself: ‘Why am I so sad?
Why am I upset?’
I must trust in God
and believe that He will help me.
I will praise the Lord again.
He is my God and He will save me.
6O my God, when I am sad,
I think of You here where I am
in the land of the Jordan River
at the Hermon Mountains,
here at Mount Mizar.
7You make the waterfalls roar
and let them shout to each other.
Your big waves are coming over me.
8Every day You give
your faithful love to me
and every night I want to sing
a song to You.
I will pray to God,
the One who keeps me alive.
9I will say to God: ‘You are my Rock.
Why have You forgotten me?
Why do You let me suffer
because of my enemies?
Why do I mourn every day?’
10My enemies mock me and say:
‘Where is your God?’
It makes me feel like someone
is stabbing me to death.
11I ask myself: ‘Why am I so sad?
Why am I so upset?’
I will trust in God again and praise Him.
He is my God and my Saviour.
