Prophecy

In the Bible, “prophecy” means that God conveys a message to the people through someone whom he has chosen, usually a prophet. This message could be about something that will happen in the future, but it can also be a warning, a judgement or words of comfort.

The Bible lists various ways in which God can send a message: through an oracle, in a vision or in a dream.
