Tunic
A tunic or undergarment was a shirt worn under the robe, by both men and women.
The tunic consisted of two rectangular cloths sewn together at the shoulders and on the side. This created half-length sleeves.
A tunic could also be worn without a robe, for instance when working.
Form of the Tunic
A tunic could be long, reaching to the ankles, or short, reaching to the calves. Soldiers and men occupied with physical labour generally wore a short tunic. This gave them more freedom to move. Women wore a long tunic, with half-length or long sleeves.
