Fasting
“Fasting” is a set ritual within the religion of the Bible. Fasting meant abstaining from eating temporarily. This was voluntary. There are small differences between the Old and the New Testaments.

fasting is seen as a sign of someone’s devotion to God. There were no rules about fasting yet in the early Church.
