Money in the Old Testament

The Hebrew word for “money” is the same as the word for “silver”. This demonstrates that in the world of the Old Testament, silver was often used to pay for things. However, people also often paid with jewellery, such as nose rings and bracelets. One example is Rebecca’s dowry in Genesis 24:22.
