God sees you – 30 November 2021

Bible text(s)
Hebrews 4
Psalms 53
Jeremiah 33
In 2019, Ronald Brown from Montagu in the Western Cape was on the verge of being selected for the Springbok sevens team. However, the persistent pain in his neck got worse. After a doctor’s visit, he was diagnosed with cancer. It was a big shock.
In the months that followed, Ronald went for weekly chemotherapy sessions. It was intense. Within 8 months he lost 11kg – completely unsure if he would ever be able to play rugby again. However, Ronald continued to believe that God was with him – that God saw him.
Slowly but surely, Ronald got better as He started training again. In 2020 he was selected for the Blitzbok team that participated in the Olympic Games in Japan.
Ronald’s career grew from strength to strength. This past weekend he not only scored a hat-trick in the final game of the Dubai Sevens Series against America; he was also named Man of the Match.
When asked how Ronald’s cancer battle shaped him as a human being, he replied: “It taught me to be patient. I learned that God’s timing is perfect and all we need is to trust Him.”
I want to end the November series with this message: God sees us. He knows what we need even before we ask Him, but He wants us to ask Him because He desires a relationship with each of us. Sometimes we too need to learn some patience.
In Hebrews 4:13 we read: “And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes . . .” In Psalm 53:2 the Psalmist writes: ” God looks down from heaven on the children of man to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God.” And then in Jeremiah 33:3, God Himself speaks: “Call to me and I will answer you. . .”
God sees us. His timing to change our situation is perfect. May we continue to trust Him for it. God bless.
Prayer: Father God, thank you that I can know that you see me and that you know my situation. Help me to wait on You with a heart full of faith, knowing that Your timing for an answer is perfect. I ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen
