Faith
Have you ever been in a situation where you were standing with your back against the wall? A situation where you had to completely surrender and trust God to help you?
You are not alone.
Moses was there – with the roaring Red Sea in front of him and the angry Egyptians behind him. Elijah was there – with the 450 prophets of Baal on one side of Mount Carmel and he alone on the other. Daniel was there – on his way to the lions’ den. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were there – on their way to the fiery furnace. Esther was there – on her way to arrive uninvited at the king. And Peter was there – locked up in jail, knowing that he would be tortured for his faith in public the next day.
Desperate situations demonstrate how strong our faith is. Are we willing to blindly trust God?
In Psalm 46: 10 God says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Also in Hebrews 11:1 we read: “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
What do we believe God can do in our situations? Do we believe that He can heal a broken marriage? Do we believe that He can turn our financial predicament around? Do we believe that He can give us a better job should we be laid off at the present work? Do we believe that He can completely heal us even though the doctor said it is impossible?
Moses believed – and God opened a way through the sea. Elijah believed – and God sent fire from heaven. Daniel believed – and God closed the lions’ mouths. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego believed – and God saved them from the fiery furnace. Esther believed – and God gave her favor with the king so that she could save the Jews. And because Peter believed – God supernaturally sent an angel to save him from prison.
What do you believe today about your situation? Remember God’s words: “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” God bless.
Prayer: Father God, thank you so much that I can trust You with my life. I specifically bring (name the challenge) to you. I am leaving it in Your hands and I trust You to change it. I ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen
