Fearlessly forward – Day 3

Fearlessly forward with peace in your heart

Have you ever tried building a brick house without cement? Or to bake a cake without baking powder? The bricks for the house can be stacked together, but without cement it will collapse if someone bumps into it. The same with baking a cake. You can have all the right ingredients, but without baking powder, the cake will not rise and therefore be a failure.

In our lives, peace can be compared to the cement or baking powder. The lack of peace will make us ineffective in our daily task. Apart from this constant feeling of being chased by someone or something, we easily get impatient with those nearest to us while we struggle to make good decisions. Just as the bricks collapse and the cake flops without cement and baking powder, things in our lives will also collapse and fail without peace.

How do we lose our peaceIt happens easily. For example, a slow driver in front of you in traffic when you are in a hurry, poor service when you are a perfectionist or a rude colleague at work. Another way to quickly lose our peace is to start worrying about a crisis or problem in your life that you cannot do anything about and expecting the worst outcome. All these examples are merely the enemy’s traps to make us lose our peace.

How do we get peace backPaul writes in Philippians 4:6-7: “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” In Numbers 6:26 we read: “May the Lord show you his favour and give you his peace.” And in 2 Thessalonians 3:16 we read: “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation.”

Do you experience peace in your heart or do you feel chased and irritated? Get the baking powder and cement in place by making peace a priority in your life. Start speaking to God about your worries and concerns and ask Him to fill your heart with peace that surpasses all understanding. I can guarantee you — your day would look much brighter with more peace in your heart. God bless.
