Break Out – Day 6
Break out and live because God has a way out of your crisis
Bible text(s)
Psalms 40
A Song of Praise
Isaiah 43
Isaiah 43
A reader once wrote to me: “I am desperate. Every decision I make ends in a dead end. I want to quit in life. Please help.”
Do you feel like this reader today? Do you feel as if you are standing in a dark room with the walls closing in on you?
A few weeks ago, I asked listeners, during my radio show, to tell me about their biggest surprise. I received numerous, interesting and funny SMS messages. Among the messages, was a more serious one from Adriaan. He wrote: “My surprise was to hear God’s voice when I wanted to commit suicide. His words were: ‘My child, if you do this today, you are robbing me of a chance to work in your life.’ Till this day, I see his hand active in my life.”
The enemy’s strategy is to make us believe that there is no way out of a crisis that we encounter. That is a lie. With God, there is always hope and a way out. Listen to the psalmist’s words in Psalm 40:1-3: “I waited patiently for the LORD to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground … He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the LORD.”
Also in Isaiah 43:2,16 we read: “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you … Thus says the LORD, who makes a way in the sea and a path through the mighty waters.”
What is your “pit of despair” today? Did you receive a bad medical report? Do you not know where your next meal will come from? Is your marriage falling apart? Do you have a crisis at work? Or do you feel like the reader, as if everything you try ends in a dead end?
With God there is always hope and a way out. He made a path through the mighty waters for the Israelites. God worked in Adriaan’s life when he allowed him to do it. There is no limit to his ability in your life and crisis. He not only stops the walls from closing in on you, he creates a door in that room for you to leave the dark behind, as you walk towards a bright new life. Let’s break out and trust God. He wants to put a new song in your heart. God bless.
