A new start – Day 5
A new start … with stability in your life
Bible text(s)
Isaiah 26
Psalms 34
Psalms 34
Jeremiah 17
Have you ever struggled with a chair on a slippery service? Maintaining your balance could be a problem. One way to combat this problem is to paste a few rubber pieces under the chair legs. In this way, the chair is stabilised and it cannot move like before.
When we go through a crisis in life, we feel like the unstable chair on a slippery service. We need to concentrate and not lose control of our lives. Throughout the Bible, many men and women found themselves in similar desperate situations. For instance, think of Joseph, alone in a jail cell in Egypt, Jonah sailing towards Tarsus instead of Nineveh, Gideon walking into the battlefield with only 300 men against an army of thousands or Esther, risking her life by going to the king to plead for the survival of the Jews.
Are you currently going through a crisis in which it has become increasingly difficult to trust God for a breakthrough in your life? Does your life feel out of control? It is time you paste rubbers under your chair legs. How do you do it? By reminding yourself about who God is and what he can do for you. Go back to his word to find his promises. Here are four promises – one for each leg of your chair:
Isaiah 26:4: “Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD God himself, is the Rock Eternal.” Psalm 34:5,19: “Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame … The LORD is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 31:22-24: “Yet you heard my cry for mercy when I called to you for help … Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD.” Jeremiah 17:7-8: “But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
God drives out fear and brings stability to the most unstable situations. All we need to do is invite him into our lives. Remember, it is sometimes in the darkest moments of our lives, that we experience his presence and power most visibly. Take control today, paste on your rubbers and trust God to bring peace into your life! God bless.
