A new start – Day 21

A new start … Find his will for your life

Bible text(s)

Matthew 6

33Instead, be concerned above everything else with the Kingdom of God and with what he requires of you, and he will provide you with all these other things.

Matthew 6:33GNBOpen in Bible reader

A young man in the army was mocked and humiliated regularly by the commander and troops, due to his relationship with God. One day, the commander decided to give him the greatest humiliation imaginable in front of the troops. He called the young man, handed him the keys to a truck and ordered him to park it in front of a row of other parked vehicles – knowing that the man could not drive.

When the young man responded that he could not drive, the commander laughed contemptuously saying, “Now why don’t you ask your God for a miracle?” The young man took the keys and walked to the truck, praying that God would use this situation to perform a miracle that would glorify His name.

The young man got into the truck, turned it on and to the surprise of all the troops and the commander, parked the truck perfectly where the commander wanted it. When he got out, the troops were in tears. “We want to serve your God,” one said, when the young man approached them. The commander walked to the truck, lifted the bonnet and showed the troops that there was not even an engine in the truck. The young man smiled and with humility said, “See, the God I worship can make the impossible possible, and he can give life where it does not even exist.”

Are you finding yourself in a situation, like the young man, in which only God can provide you with a breakthrough? Listen again to the words in Matthew 6:33: “… But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

God provided a path through the Red Sea when the Egyptians wanted to attack the Israelites. God gave Esther favour with the king when she had to plead for the survival of the Israelites. God gave Gideon supernatural strength to fight a battle with only 300 men against a superior force. God shut the lions’ mouths to save Daniel. He saved Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego from the fiery furnace. In addition, God sent fire from heaven when Elijah stood alone on the mountain, trusting God to show himself to the Baal prophets.

Nothing is impossible to God. When we start to acknowledge him in all our ways, and seek his kingdom and his righteousness first, all other things will fall into place at exactly the right time. May that become your vision for this new year! God bless.
