Jesus is born
Joseph and Mary went from the town of Nazareth to the town of Bethlehem. When they came to Bethlehem, there was no room for them to stay at the inn.
In Bethlehem, Mary had a baby. She wrapped him in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger.
Some shepherds were spending the night in the fields. They were taking care of their sheep.
An angel of the Lord appeared to the shepherds. The glory of the Lord shone over them. The shepherds were very frightened.
The angels said to them, “Don’t be afraid! I am here with good news for you. This very day in Bethlehem Jesus is born. He is the Lord. You will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth and lying in a manger.”
Suddenly there was a great host of angels from heaven, singing, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom he is pleased.”
The angels went back to heaven.
The shepherds hurried to Bethlehem and found Mary and Joseph, and they saw the baby lying in the manger.
Very far from there, there were some wise men who studied the stars. They followed a star that led them to the place where Jesus was.
The star went ahead of the wise men until it stopped over the place where the child was. The wise men went into the house. When they saw the child with his mother Mary, they knelt and worshipped him.
Then they brought out their gifts for the child. There was gold, myrrh and frankincense.
