King Gog and his soldiers will die in Israel
1‘And you, Son of man, you must prophesy_against King Gog. You must tell him: “The Lord God says: Gog, chief ruler of the nations of Meshek and Tubal, I am your enemy. 2I will make you turn_around. I will lead you and I will bring you from the far north. I will bring you to the mountains_of_Israel. 3Then I will hit your bow out of your left hand and I will make your arrows fall down from your right hand. 4You will die on the mountains_of_Israel, you and all your soldiers and men of the other nations who are with you. I will give you to the big birds and wild animals to eat. 5You will fall in the field, because I said it will happen.” This is what the Lord God said.
6“I will set the land of Magog on fire, and also the lands near the sea. Those people think that they are safe, but they will know that I am the Lord. 7I will show my people, the Israelites, that I am the holy God. My name is holy and I will not let people say bad things about my name anymore. The other nations will know that I am the Lord, the holy God of Israel. 8It is coming, and it will happen. The day that I told you about is coming.” This is what the Lord God said.
9“The people who live in the cities of Israel will come out and they will make fire with the weapons of the enemies. They will burn them all, the shields, the bows_and_arrows, sticks and spears. For 7 years they will make fire with all their weapons. 10They will not have to go and look for wood in the field or cut down trees in the forest, because they will make fire and burn the weapons. They will take back all the plunder that the enemies have taken from them before. They will take back all the treasures that the enemies have taken.” This is what the Lord God said.
11“On that day I will give King Gog a place in the land_of_Israel, a place where his grave will be. It will be in the valley east of the Dead Sea which the people walk past when they go through the land. But when they make his grave there, people will not be able to walk there anymore. They will name the place: “‘The valley of Gog's soldiers”’.
12It will take the Israelites 7 months to bury all the dead people. They will do it to purify the land. 13All the people in the land will bury the dead people and when I show them that I am the King, all the people will respect Me.” ’ This is what the Lord God said.
14‘The people of the land will choose men to go through the land to bury dead people to purify the land. They will bury all the dead people who still lie on the ground. Then the land will be purified. After 7 months they will go again to look for dead people in the land. 15They will go through the land and if they see a bone of a dead man, they will take some stones and put them on the bone. Then the men who have to bury the bones will see the stones and they will take the bones and bury them in the valley of Gog's soldiers. 16Later there will be a city that will have that name. That is how the land will become pure again.’
All the nations will see that I am the holy God
17‘And you, Son of man, The Lord God says: “You must talk to the birds, to everything that flies and to all the wild animals. Tell them: You must all come together. Come from everywhere to my feast. Come and eat the offering that I want to give you. I have prepared a big meal for you on the mountains_of_Israel. You must come and eat meat and drink blood. 18You will eat the meat of important people and you will drink the blood of people who have ruled on earth. All of them are like sheep rams and lambs and goat-rams and bulls that became fat in the land of Bashan. 19You will eat fat, more than enough, and you will drink blood until you are drunk at the feast that I am going to prepare for you. 20You will eat more than enough food at my feast. You will eat the horses and the men of the war-chariots, and also the soldiers and everyone who went to war.” ’ This is what the Lord God said.
21‘I will show my glory to all the nations, and they will see that I am the King. The nations will see my power when I punish them. 22And the Israelites will know that I am the Lord their God, from that day on and forever. 23The other nations will know that the Israelites became prisoners in other lands because of all the wrong things they did, because they were unfaithful to Me, and that is why I turned away my face from them and gave them to their enemies to die in war. 24I punished them because they became impure and they rebelled_against Me. That is why I turned my face away from them.’
25The Lord God says: ‘But now I will be good to the descendants of Jacob, I will be good to all the Israelites. I will show them that I love my holy name. 26They will live in their land and they will be safe. They will not be afraid of anyone, but they will be ashamed forever because they have been unfaithful to Me. 27I will bring them back from the other nations and I will bring them from the lands of their enemies. I will let all the nations see that I am the holy God. 28Then they will know that I am the Lord their God. I made them prisoners of other nations, but I brought them back to their own land. I did not let one of them stay in other lands. 29I will never again turn my face away from my people, the Israelites. I will pour out my Spirit on this nation.’ This is what the Lord God said.
