A message for King Gog
The Lord talked to me and He said: 2‘Son of man, you must look towards King Gog of the land of Magog and you must prophesy_against him. He is the chief ruler of the nations of Meshek and Tubal. 3You must tell him: “The Lord God says: Gog, chief ruler of the nations of Meshek and Tubal, I am your enemy now. 4I will make you turn back and I will put iron hooks in your jaws. I will bring you out of your land with all your soldiers, your horses and your men who ride the horses. They all have beautiful clothes and each one has a shield and a sword in his hand. 5There are men from the lands of Persia, Cush and Put with them. Each of them has a shield and a helmet. 6There are a lot of nations with you, as well as Gomer and Beth-Togarmah. They come from the far north with all their soldiers.
You must be ready and you must wait, you and all your soldiers who have come with you. You must wait with them, and you will be their leader. 8After a long time I will tell you what to do. You will come to a land where there had been war, but the people have built and healed it again. The mountains_of_Israel were destroyed for a long time but the Israelites came back and they are together again. They came from a lot of nations because I told them to come back from there and they think they are safe now. 9But you will come like a strong wind and you will attack them. You and your soldiers and men from other nations who are with you will attack them. There will be a lot of people with you, and you will cover the land like a cloud.” ’
The Lord God says: ‘On that day you will think what to do and you will make plans to do something bad. 11You will think: “I will attack this open land. I will come to these people who think they are safe. They think that no one will attack them. There are no walls around the cities where they live, and there are no gates that they can close and lock. 12I will take everything that they have for myself. I will take all their treasures. I will go to war_against the cities that were destroyed and where people live now. I will go to war_against the people who came back from the other nations, the people who have sheep and goats and other things. They live in the land_of_Israel, the most important place on earth.” 13The people of the lands of Sheba and Dedan, the merchants of the land of Tarshish and all its leaders will ask you: “Did you come to take the treasures of these people for yourself? Did you bring your soldiers to take everything that these people have? Do you want to carry away their silver and gold? Do you want to take away their sheep and goats and all the plunder for yourselves? That is wrong.”
Son of man, that is why you must prophesy_against King Gog. You must tell him: “The Lord God says: You know that my people are living in their land and think they are safe. 15You will come from your place far in the north. You will come with people of a lot of nations, men on horses, and it will be a very big army with a lot of soldiers. 16You will come and attack my people, the Israelites. You will be like a cloud that covers the land. When the time is right I will bring you to my land to attack my people. But, King Gog, the nations will know who I am. They will see that I am using you to show that I am the holy God.” ’
The Lord God says: ‘Gog, long ago I was talking about you when I sent my servants, the prophets of Israel. They prophesied at that time and said that you would attack my people.’
‘But on that day, when King Gog comes into the land_of_Israel, I will become very angry.’ This is what the Lord God said.
‘I love my people a lot, and I will be angry with you when you attack them. I tell you now: On that day there will be a big earthquake in the land_of_Israel. 20Everything will tremble before Me: the fish, the birds, the animals, and also the animals that crawl on the ground, and all the people in the land. The mountains will fall down, the rocks will fall down, and every wall in the land will fall down. 21I will call everyone on the mountains to go to war_against King Gog.’ This is what the Lord God said.
Gog's soldiers will kill each other
‘I will send diseases and death, rain storms and hail-stones to punish him. I will make fire and sulphur fall on him like rain. It will also fall on his soldiers and on all the other people who are with him. 23I will show all the nations that I am a great and holy God. They will know that I am the Lord.’
