Leviticus 9
The priests start doing their work
1The day after Moses had consecrated the priests, he called Aaron and his sons and the leaders_of_Israel to come to him 2and he said to Aaron: ‘You must take a healthy bull-calf for a sin-offering and a healthy sheep ram for a burnt-offering and you must sacrifice them to the Lord. 3You must tell the Israelites: “You must take a healthy goat-ram for a sin-offering, and you must take a healthy one-year-old calf and a lamb for a burnt-offering. 4And you must sacrifice a bull and a sheep ram for a meal-offering to the Lord, and make a grain-offering of flour that you have mixed with olive oil, because today the Lord will appear to you.” ’
5The Israelites went to the tent of the Lord and they brought everything that Moses told them to bring to the front of the tent. All the people of the congregation came and they stood before the Lord. 6Moses said: ‘This is what the Lord has told you to do, so that you may see his glory when He appears to you.’
7Then Moses said to Aaron: ‘Come to the altar and sacrifice your sin-offering and your burnt-offering and make atonement for yourself and for the people. You must sacrifice the offering for the people and you must make atonement for them, as God said.’
8Aaron went to the altar and he killed the calf that was for his sin-offering. 9Aaron's sons gave him the blood and he put his finger into the blood and he put some of the blood onto the horns_of_the_altar. He poured out the blood that was left over at the bottom of the altar. 10He burnt the fat and the kidneys and the fat part of the liver of the calf on the altar as the Lord had said. 11He burnt the meat and the skin of the calf outside the camp.
12Then Aaron killed the sheep ram that was for the burnt-offering. His sons gave him the blood and he sprinkled the blood around the bottom of the altar. 13His sons gave him the pieces of meat and the head of the ram and he burnt them on the altar. 14He washed the inner parts and the feet and he burnt them with the meat and the head on the altar.
15Then Aaron sacrificed the offering for the people. He took the goat-ram that was for the sin-offering of the people and he killed it and sacrificed it, like he did with his own offering. 16Then he sacrificed the burnt-offering and he did it exactly like he had to do. 17He sacrificed the grain-offering. He took a handful of flour and burnt it on the altar. He also sacrificed the morning burnt-offering. 18Then he killed the bull and the sheep ram that were for the meal-offerings of the people. His sons gave him the blood and he sprinkled the blood all around the altar. 19They gave him the fat of the bull and the ram and the fat of the tail, the fat of the inner parts, the 2 kidneys and the fat part of the liver. 20They put it onto the pieces of breast and then Aaron burnt the fat on the altar. 21Aaron moved the pieces of breast and the right legs to show that it was a move-offering for the Lord, as the Lord had told Moses.
22Then Aaron put his hands up and he blessed the people. He came back after he had sacrificed the sin-offerings, the burnt-offerings and the meal-offerings.
23Moses and Aaron went into the tent of the Lord. When they came out, they blessed the people and all the people saw the glory of the Lord. 24The Lord sent down a fire and it burnt the burnt-offerings and the fat on the altar. When the people saw this, they shouted and fell to the ground on their knees and worshipped the Lord.
