The 2 kings on the other side of the Jordan River
The Israelites defeated the 2 kings east of the Jordan River and took their lands. Their lands were from the Arnon Valley to Mount Hermon and also the Jordan Valley east of the Jordan River.
The first king that Moses and the Israelites defeated was King Sihon of the Amorites. He lived in the town of Heshbon. He ruled over these parts of the land: from the town of Aroer next to the Arnon Valley, from the middle of the valley to the Jabbok Valley, half of the land of Gilead next to the land of the Ammonites 3and the Jordan Valley east of the Jordan River, from Lake Kinnereth to the towns of Beth-Jeshimoth and Teman near the Salt Sea, south of where people go up to the Pisgah Mountain.
They also defeated King Og from the land of Bashan. Og was one of the last of the Rephaite people. He lived in the towns of Ashtaroth and Edrei. 5He ruled over the Hermon Mountain, the town of Salekah and the whole land of Bashan to the borders of the lands where the people of Geshur and Maakah lived. His land was half of Gilead as far as the border of King Sihon of Heshbon.
Moses, the servant of the Lord, and the Israelites, defeated these kings. Then Moses gave their land to the tribes of Reuben, Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh. 7Later, Joshua and the Israelites defeated the kings west of the Jordan River, from the town of Baal-Gad in the Lebanon Valley in the north to the Halak Mountain near the land in the south. Joshua gave this land to the other tribes of Israel. Each tribe got part of the land that then belonged to them. 8This was the mountain_country, the lowlands, the Jordan Valley, the hill_country, the desert and the Negev. It was the land where the Hittite people had lived with the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites.
