This past December holiday (which feels like a lifetime ago!), we spent quality time together as a family. We went to visit my in-laws in Gauteng, spent lazy days at home and even went camping for a few days. It was great and so special.
In all the strange places that we visited, we were still familiar to our little one and remained her safe haven, until she was familiar with the people and new environment. Then, she got excited and curiously started wandering around. However, she watched us with a hawk’s eye – if she was unsure, she would run back and cling to my leg.
Actually, that’s how life works, right?
Once we find ourselves in new, strange and unpredictable circumstances, we try to cling to something that feels familiar; something that feels secure.
If there may be a new chapter ahead of you this year or if you, unexpectedly, find yourself in circumstances that you did not see coming, remember that God remains your safe haven. He will still watch over you, keep you and stay with you, even if things look different than they did a year ago. He will be there for you when you feel like you have to face the unknown. He will remain your safe home, no matter where you are. Keep your eyes on him.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for always being my safe haven, no matter where I am. Thank you that I can always find comfort in you and know that you will protect me, no matter how unfamiliar things around me may feel. Amen
