It is wonderful, overwhelming and absolutely astounding to think about God’s grace. His grace is immense and it is enough – even though we have done nothing to deserve it. In some way, it is both terrifying and comforting at the same time.
As I wrote earlier this week, it is important for us to extend grace to those around us as well. That is what I want to focus on today.
It is so easy to get caught up in our own needs, desires and everything that we want, that we can quickly forget to show grace to others. We can become so consumed with the urge to confront someone, make them pay for a mistake or seek revenge for the hurt they have caused.
Yet, I believe it is often better to pause for a moment and ask yourself: Why? What do I hope to achieve?
Whether it is family, friends, an employee or colleague, a stranger who rubbed you up the wrong way or a loved one who has treated you unfairly – there is always someone who needs a little grace. And if God can be gracious to us, surely, we should strive to do the same. We must try, even when it is difficult.
Prayer: Lord, help me to be kind to others and, like you, to show grace to the people around me. Amen
