It is easy to get caught in a spiral of negative thoughts. Often, this is when God can feel very distant.

Yes, people often turn to God when things are tough and then put him in the background when things go well. Not always, but it happens often.

However, there are also times when it can feel like your problems are overwhelming. Negativity takes over. And sometimes, it gets so bad that your faith no longer feels like a priority. That is when God can seem far away.

I think it is important to remind yourself that God is still there, even when it is dark and you cannot see him. He is with you, even when you feel like you cannot hear his voice anymore. God does not abandon us. He may feel far away, but that does not mean that He is far away. In fact, it is often in these moments that he is holding you close and carrying you.

Psalm 34 reminds us that God saves even those who have lost all hope. So, take heart. God is with you, even if it does not feel that way right now. You will hear his voice again, just listen closely.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you that I can know you are always there for me, even when it does not feel that way. Thank you that your love still surrounds me, even when I feel far from you. Amen
