God is almighty, but He is also involved in the detail of our lives. Today I want to tell you the story of a pool filter and a printer:

Pool Filter: One of the first stories I wrote years ago was about Isebel, a lady who went through a difficult divorce. She struggled financially and emotionally. The icing on the cake for her was when their pool filter broke and she had to watch the pool get greener and greener daily with no money to buy a new filter. Depressed she sat next to the pool one day and wondered if there was still a reason to live. She prayed, “Lord, if You really are God, please just help me to get this pool sorted out!” She did not tell anyone about her prayer or predicament. A few days later, her son took part in a golf day. He finished second. His prize? A pool filter!

Printer: Earlier this week, Craig Rowbotham, a Verse-a-Day reader from North Devon, England, wrote me an e-mail. Craig works from home with his own business. With month end in October, his printer broke – the last thing he needed! After spending an entire afternoon trying to fix it, he decided to buy a new one. He started searching online for a new one and discovered that the fastest delivery would take a week. With England moving back to lockdown for a month, he was not sure when this much needed printer would arrive. Here is his story:

Craig: “My daughter lives four hours away from us in Southampton and we talk to each other daily by phone. During our conversation, I told her about my frustration with the printer. She asked me which printer I was looking for. My answer was the Epson XP-3100 because I have always used an Epson and this particular model looks like what I need for my business. I mentioned that I was planning to go to our local computer store the next day. Although it would most likely be more expensive, I would have to spend the money and take whatever printer they have because I urgently needed one. A few minutes after our conversation, I received a photo from my daughter with the words: ‘Dad, you no longer have to go to town. I’ll send you this tomorrow.’ It was an Epson XP-3100 printer! I could not believe it! My daughter bought a laptop months ago and got the printer for free. Since they already have printers at home, this one was still brand new in a box in their home. I was totally stunned when I realized that God knew exactly what I needed – even before I did. I am truly grateful.”

In Deuteronomy 8, God reminds the Israelites of how He carried them step by step out of Egypt and through the wilderness. When they were hungry, He gave them manna. When they were thirsty, He gave them water. He protected them and provided what they needed in every season. Even today, God still does it. In Psalm 37: 4-5 we read: “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this.”

Because God exists outside of time and space, He is able to provide what we need in creative ways. Let us trust Him and rest in Him in every season of our lives. God bless.

Prayer: Father God, thank you so much that I can commit my life to you daily. I bring (name your challenge) to You. Fill me with peace and strengthen my faith that I may keep my eyes on You. I ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen
