Gems from the Psalms – Day 2

There is a high quality publication, titled Wisdom by David Zuckerman. According to the flysheet, the author was motivated by the belief that one of the greatest gifts one generation can pass on to the next, is the wisdom it has gained from experience.

Therefore, he recorded the thoughts, writings and ideas of about 54 of the world’s most prominent religious leaders, politicians, actors, artists, designers, musicians, writers and business leaders for posterity. These people had made a worldwide impact on their fellow beings, in their respective fields, and their collective wisdom would be a precious heritage for successive generations.

The Bible has also recorded for posterity (and for posterity read “you and me”) its definition of wisdom. It is our verse for the day. Wisdom is a recurrent theme in the Old Testament. “The fear of the Lord – that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.” (Job 28:28)

Fear and reverence for God should always govern our conduct. God grants those who obey his words the wisdom to decide matters well.

We should always praise him. We must never lose sight of the fact that it is the Almighty God who has saved us, with whom we have an eternal covenant, through our Lord Jesus Christ.
