Faith

“Faith” means trusting someone or taking something to be true. In the Bible, faith mainly refers to the relationship between God and mankind. Important features of this faith are people’s awareness that there is a God, and their trust that God will not desert them:

  • In the Old Testament, faith usually means trust in God, but faith also requires people to be obedient to God.
  • In the New Testament, faith is a term Christians use to talk about their conviction. The “faithful” are people who believe in God and in the salvation he brought through his Son Jesus Christ.
  • For the first Christians, faith meant accepting the Gospel of Jesus Christ, repenting from your sins and no longer worshipping idols.
