Do you feel that the saying “so much to do, so little time” relates to you? If so, many people would agree with your sentiment.

The more electronic resources we have to lighten our workload, the busier we become. Yet I wonder if one day we will look back on our present activities and deem that much of our time could have been better utilised. For there is a real danger that we can get so caught up in our day-to-day tasks that we lose sight of the grander picture.

The apostle Paul gave us an insight concerning God’s secret plan for his chosen, who are now locked in time but whom he has destined for eternity.

The purpose and plan of God, from before the world was made, was for us to become his children through our union with the Lord Jesus Christ. Through his Son, we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms.

God’s plan will be complete when he deems the time is right to bring his people together with the whole universe into perfect harmony with himself, under the headship of Christ.

That includes you, too, for – “You also became God’s people when you heard the true message, the Good News that brought you salvation. You believed in Christ, and God put his stamp of ownership on you by giving you the Holy Spirit he had promised. The Spirit is the guarantee that we shall receive what God has promised his people …” (Ephesians 1:13-14).

God’s great love for us ensures that we are his family through our Lord Jesus Christ and an integral part of his ultimate plan. What a privileged people we are.

To God be the glory, great things he has done.
