Break out and continue to praise God

Itekisi yeBhayibhile

UHABHAKUKI 3

17Noba ungade ungadubuli umkhiwane,

umdiliya ungabi nazo neziqhamo,

nokuba awungevelisi nto umnquma,

namasimi ngokwawo angabi nasivuno,

zingade zingabikho iigusha esibayeni,

nobuhlanti bungabi nazo nazinkomo,

18ewe, khona kungade kube njalo,

kodwa mna ndochwayita kuNdikhoyo,

ndibe nemihlali kuThixo ondisindisayo.

5Ngoko bendikwazi nje ngokuva ngeendlebe,

kambe ke ngoku ndikubonile ngala wam amehlo.

Over the years, a number of readers testified to having experienced miracles. A reader, André Bruyns, who experienced a miracle in his life, once wrote me an e-mail. Here is an excerpt:

“I arrived at work this morning in a depressed mood. I work on a commission basis and thus far (February 25), I haven’t sold anything, which means no money at the end of the month. What makes the situation worse is that my wife is currently at home, as she is going to give birth to our first child (a son) soon! The stress is getting the better of me.

I read the piece about God’s ability to move a mountain out of the way. I decided, just as the guy in the story, to ask God for a miracle. After pouring my heart out in front of him, I began praising him with a song about his goodness.

Within 10 minutes, I received a call from a client with an order that needed to be delivered on Monday morning. In absolute awe, I thanked God. In just 10 minutes, he intervened and made my month successful! To him be the glory!”

André is right. God can calm any storm within seconds. What is your reaction when that storm continues longer than you hoped for?

Habakkuk and Job both stayed positive, trusting God for their breakthroughs. Listen to Habakkuk’s words in Habakkuk 3:17-18: “Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labour of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls – Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.” Job also didn’t turn his back on God amidst the hardest time of his life. Because of this, he saw God. Listen to his words in Job 42:5: “Until now I have only heard of you, but now I have seen you …”

What miracle do you need today? Let’s praise God, like Habakkuk and Job, in the midst of the storm. This enables us to look past the challenges and see God’s greatness. It also creates an atmosphere in which God does miracles. Keep trusting God. Your current challenge might lead you to rediscover God – just like Job did. God bless.
