Zechariah 3
The high-priest Joshua
1The Lord showed me something again. The high-priest Joshua was standing in front of the Angel_of_the_Lord and Satan was standing on the right hand side of Joshua. Satan accused Joshua. 2The Lord said to Satan: ‘I will punish you. I said Jerusalem is my city. I have saved this man, Joshua, as someone saves a piece of wood from the fire when it has already started to burn.’
3Joshua was standing in front of the Angel and his clothes were very dirty. 4The Lord told the other angels who were standing in front of Him: ‘Take off Joshua's dirty clothes.’
And He said to Joshua: ‘I have forgiven your sins. They may now put on new clothes for you.’
5I, Zechariah, said: ‘You must put a clean turban on his head.’
Then they put a clean turban on Joshua's head and they put new clothes on him. The Angel_of_the_Lord was standing there 6and He talked to Joshua and made a promise to him. 7He told Joshua that the Lord who rules over all says: ‘If you live as I want and if you do what I say, then you will rule over my temple. You will look after everything and take care of it. Then you may also come to Me like the angels who are here with Me.
8High-priest Joshua, you and your friends who are sitting in front of you, you must listen to what I say. You are the signs of the things that will happen: I will now bring my Servant, the Branch.
9I am putting down a rock in front of Joshua. There are 7 sides and 7 eyes on the rock. I will write on this rock that I will forgive the sins of everyone in the land in one day. 10On that day everyone will sit under his fig tree or under his vine and they will invite each other to come and sit down with them.’
