The sons of Israel
1The sons of Israel were Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, 2Dan, Joseph, Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad and Asher.
The descendants of Judah
3Judah and his wife from Canaan, Bath-Shua, had 3 sons. Their names were Er, Onan and Shelah. The Lord was angry with the oldest son, Er, and He caused Er to die. 4Judah and Tamar, his daughter-in-law, had 2 sons and their names were Perez and Zerah, so Judah had 5 sons in all.
5The names of Perez's sons were Hezron and Hamul. 6Zerah had 5 sons. They were Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Kalkol and Darda. 7Achar was a son of Karmi. He took some of the things that were consecrated to the Lord. Because he did that, the Lord punished a lot of people of Israel and they died. 8Ethan had a son. His name was Azariah.
9Hezron's sons were Jerahmeel, Ram and Caleb. 10Ram was the father of Amminadab, and Amminadab was the father of Nahshon, a leader of the Judah people. 11Nahshon was the father of Salmon and Salmon was the father of Boaz. 12Boaz was the father of Obed and Obed was the father of Jesse. 13Jesse had 7 sons and they were Eliab, Abinadab, Shimea, 14Nethanel, Raddai, 15Ozem and David, who was the 7th son.
16Their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. Zeruiah had 3 sons and they were Abishai, Joab and Asahel. 17Abigail was the mother of Amasa. Amasa's father was Jether, the Ishmaelite.
18Caleb, son of Hezron, had children from his wife Azubah and from Jerioth. She was his first wife and her mother's name was Azubah. The names of Azubah's sons were Jesher, Shobab and Ardon. 19When Azubah died, Caleb married Ephrath and they had a son. His name was Hur. 20Hur was the father of Uri, and Uri was the father of Bezalel.
21Hezron later married a daughter of Makir. Makir was the forefather of the people of Gilead. Hezron was 60 years old when he and this wife had a son. His name was Segub. 22Segub was the father of Jair. There were 23 towns in the land of Gilead that belonged to Jair. 23The people of the land of Geshur and Aram took the towns of Jair for themselves, and also the town of Kenath and its villages. There were 60 towns. All the people of these towns were descendants of Makir, the father of Gilead. 24After Hezron died in the town of Caleb-Ephrathah, Hezron's wife, Abijah, had another son. His name was Ashhur. He was the father of Tekoa.
25Hezron's oldest son, Jerahmeel, and his wife had sons. They were Ram, Bunah, Oren, Ozem and Ahijah. 26Jerahmeel had another wife. Her name was Atarah and she was the mother of Onam. 27Jerahmeel's oldest son, Ram, had sons. They were Maaz, Jamin and Eker. 28The sons of Onam were Shammai and Jada. Shammai's sons were Nadab and Abishur. 29The name of Abishur's wife was Abihail and they were the parents of Ahban and Molid. 30The sons of Nadab were Seled and Appaim. Seled did not have any children. 31Appaim was the father of Ishi, Ishi was the father of Sheshan and Sheshan was the father of Ahlai. 32Shammai's brother Jada had sons. They were Jether and Jonathan. Jether did not have any children.
33Jonathan's sons were Peleth and Zaza. These were the descendants of Jerahmeel. 34Sheshan did not have any sons, only daughters. Sheshan had an Egyptian slave. His name was Jarha.
35Sheshan gave one of his daughters to his slave Jarha to marry and they had a son. His name was Attai. 36Attai was the father of Nathan, Nathan was the father of Zabad, 37Zabad was the father of Ephlal, Ephlal was the father of Obed, 38Obed was the father of Jehu, Jehu was the father of Azariah, 39Azariah was the father of Helez, Helez was the father of Eleasah, 40Eleasah was the father of Sismai, Sismai was the father of Shallum, 41Shallum was the father of Jekamiah and Jekamiah was the father of Elishama.
The descendants of Caleb
42Here are the names of the descendants of Jerahmeel's brother Caleb.
His oldest son was Mesha. He was the father of Ziph and Mareshah. Mareshah was the father of Hebron. 43Hebron was the father Korah, Tappuah, Rekem and Shema. 44Shema was the father of Raham and Raham was the father of Jorkeam. Rekem was the father of Shammai. 45Shammai was the father of Maon and Maon was the father of Beth-Zur. 46Caleb and his concubine Ephah were the parents of Haran, Moza and Gazez. Haran was the father of Gazez. 47The sons of Jahdai were Regem, Jotham, Geshan, Pelet, Ephah and Shaaph. 48Caleb and his concubine Maakah were the parents of Sheber and Tirhanah. 49They were also the parents of Shaaph, the father of Madmannah. Caleb and Maakah were also the parents of Sheva, the father of Makbenah and Gibea. Aksah was a daughter of Caleb. 50These were the descendants of Caleb.
The sons of Hur, the firstborn son of Ephrathah, were Shobal, the father of Kiriath-Jearim, 51Salma, the father of Bethlehem, and Hareph, the father of Beth-Gader. 52Shobal was the father of Kiriath-Jearim. He was also the father of Haroeh and half of the Manahathites. 53The people of Kiriath-Jearim were family of the Ithrite people, the Puthites, Shumathites and Mishraites. The people of the towns of Sora and Eshtaol were their descendants. 54The descendants of Salma were Bethlehem, Netophah, Atroth-Beth-Joab and the other half of the people of Manahath and the people of Zora.
55The families of the scribes lived in Jabez. They were the families of Tira, Shimeah and Suca. They were Kenites, who came from Hammath. Hammath was the father of the Rekab family.
