I know that You will protect me
1Everyone who goes
to the Most High God
because he wants to be safe
will be protected by God Almighty.
2I will say to the Lord:
‘You are my Place of Safety,
and You will protect me.
You are my God, and I trust in You.’
3The Lord will save you from
the trap of people who want to catch you.
He will save you from diseases
that destroy people.
4The Lord will protect you like
a hen protects her chicks under her wings.
You will be safe under the Lord's wings.
He will protect you with his shield
because He is faithful.
5You will not be afraid
of any danger in the night,
or afraid of the arrows that
people shoot during the day.
6You will not be afraid of diseases
that come when it is dark,
or sickness that brings death in day time.
7If 1 000 people fall down and die next to you,
or even 10 000 die in front of you,
you know that nothing bad will happen to you.
8You will see it with your eyes,
and you will see how
the Lord punishes sinful people.
9Because you have asked the Lord
to protect you and
you trust in the Most High God
to keep you safe,
10that is why nothing bad
will happen to you,
and no sickness will come near your home.
11The Lord will send his angels
to protect you wherever you go.
12They will carry you and
your foot will not stumble against a stone.
13You will walk over lions and
snakes and trample and kill them.
14The Lord says:
‘I will save them because they love Me.
I will protect them
because they know Me and trust my name.
15When they pray to Me,
I will answer them,
and when they are in trouble,
I will be with them.
I will save and honour them
and make them important.
16I will give them a long and happy life
and they will see how I save them.’
