Please do what You have promised
This is a Psalm for the leader of the choir, a Psalm of David, the servant of God.
1Sinners don't respect God.
They rebel_against Him
and they don't fear Him.
2They think they are wonderful.
They don't realise that
they have done wrong
and they are not sorry.
3When they speak,
they talk about how they can
do wrong and cheat people.
They don't know
how to be wise and good.
4When they lie down on their beds,
they think of the bad things
that they can do and
they don't choose the good way.
They don't stop doing things that are wrong.
5Lord, please do what You have promised.
Your love goes all over the world and into heaven.
You stay the same, here and in the sky.
6Lord, your righteousness
is as high as the mountains.
You are fair and your goodness
is as deep as the sea.
You protect people and animals.
7O God, your love is precious to us.
You protect people
in the shadow of your wings.
8There are many things
that people can enjoy in your temple
and You invite your children
to your feast. You let them drink
from the streams of water.
This is how many blessings
You give them.
9You are the One who gives us life,
and You give us light which makes us alive.
10Lord, please keep loving
the people who know You,
and continue doing what is good
and right to people who are honest.
11Don't let proud people attack me,
and don't let sinful people chase me away.
12Look, the people who do bad things
have fallen down. They lie on the ground,
and they can not get up.
