I know You will answer me
This is a prayer of David.
1Lord, please listen to me.
I am not guilty.
Please answer me when I pray
and ask You for help.
I am honest and I speak the truth.
2Please say that I have lived in the right way.
You know when people are honest.
3When You come to me at night,
You see what I have done and You test me.
You know that I don't plan
to do anything bad.
When I speak,
I don't say things that are wrong.
4I don't do the same things
that other people do,
but I do what You want.
I am not cruel
and do not do things that are bad.
5I have always gone
where You wanted me to go,
and I have not fallen down along the way.
6My God, I pray to You
because I know that You will answer me.
Please listen to me and hear what I say.
7Show me your wonderful and great love.
You are the Saviour of people
who trust in You to protect them
from their enemies.
8Please protect me
like You would protect your eye,
and hide me like a bird hides her babies
under her wings.
9Please hide me from those people
who want to attack me,
from my enemies who are all around me
and want to kill me.
10They don't feel sorry for anyone,
and they boast about themselves.
11They have chased me
and surrounded me.
They want me to fall to the ground.
12They are like lions who are waiting
and are ready to bite and kill me.
13Lord, please come and help me
defeat my enemies.
Save me with your sword
from those who do wrong.
14Lord, save me from these people
who think only
of what they can get in this_life.
They have enough to eat
of all the things that You give.
Their children have enough
and there is food left over
for their grandchildren.
15But I have lived in the right way,
and I will see your face.
When I wake up
and I see that You are with me,
I will not want anything more.
