₁Lord, I am in deep water.

I cry and ask You to help me.

₂O Lord, please listen to my prayer.

Listen when I beg You and ask for your mercy.

₃Lord, if You should look

at all our sins and punish us,

then no one would stay alive.

₄But You forgive people's sins

so that we can fear and serve You.

₅I wait for the Lord to help me.

I long for Him and I trust in his Word

and the things that He says.

₆I long for the Lord,

even more than guards in the night long

and wait for the morning to come.

Yes, I long more than the guards

long for the morning to come.

₇People of Israel,

you must believe in the Lord

because He always

does what He has promised.

He loves us and wants to save us.

₈He will save his people, the Israelites

from all their sins.
