Leviticus 3

₁The Lord said to Moses: ‘When someone wants to sacrifice a meal-offering and he wants to sacrifice a cow or a bull, it must be healthy when he brings it to the Lord. ₂He must put his hand on the head of the animal and he must kill it near the entrance of the tent of the Lord. The priests, who are the descendants of Aaron, must sprinkle the blood onto the altar. They must sprinkle it on all 4 sides of the altar. ₃The person who gives the peace-offering must burn the fat from the inner parts. This is a fire-offering to God. ₄He must also burn the 2 kidneys and the fat near the lower parts of the back, and the fat parts on the liver. He must take the fat out with the kidneys. ₅The priests, who are descendants of Aaron, must burn it on the altar with the burnt-offering on the wood of the fire. This is a fire-offering that pleases Me.

₆When someone wants to give a sheep or goat as a meal-offering to Me, it must be a healthy ram or ewe. ₇If he wants to give a lamb as an offering to Me, ₈he must put his hand on the head of the animal and he must kill it in front of the tent of the Lord. The priests, who are the descendants of Aaron, must sprinkle the blood onto the altar, on all 4 sides of the altar. ₉The person must then give a part of the meal-offering to the Lord. This is a fire-offering. He must give the tail, which he has cut off near the back, and all of the fat from the inner parts, ₁₀the 2 kidneys with the fat near the lower parts of the back and the fat on the liver which he takes out with the kidneys. ₁₁The priest must burn it on the altar. It is a meal-offering, a fire-offering to the Lord.

₁₂If the person wants to sacrifice a goat to the Lord, ₁₃he must put his hand on the head of the goat and kill it in front of the tent of the Lord. The priests, who are the descendants of Aaron, must sprinkle the blood onto the altar, on all 4 sides of the altar. ₁₄The person must then give a part of the goat to the Lord as a fire-offering. He must burn all the fat from the inner parts, ₁₅and also the 2 kidneys, the fat on the kidneys and lower parts of the back and the fat from the liver which he takes out with the kidneys. ₁₆The priest must burn it on the altar. This is a fire-offering that pleases Me. All the fat belongs to the Lord. ₁₇You and your descendants must always remember this, wherever you live: You may never eat fat or blood.’
