The Lord will help the people of Jerusalem
1On that day 7 women will
take hold of one man and say to him:
‘Please marry us. We will eat
our own food and make our own clothes.
We want to have a husband so that
people will not laugh at us anymore.’
2On that day all the beautiful plants
that the Lord made to grow
will be full of seeds.
The Israelites who are still_alive
will be happy because of
all the beautiful fruit they can eat.
3The people will say all those
in Jerusalem who are still_alive
are holy people.
The Lord has written the names of
all the holy people in his book.
4The Lord will wash away the dirt
and clean all the women of Jerusalem,
so they will not be impure anymore.
He will be the Judge and He will
take away all the murderers in Jerusalem,
like someone who takes out all the sand and dirt
when he melts silver to make it pure.
5Then the Lord will bring a cloud
in the day and smoke with a burning fire
in the night and it will be over Jerusalem
and cover them like a tent.
6The tent will protect them
so that they will not burn,
and it will also protect them
against rain and storms.
