MATHEU 28:16-20SSO89SOBula ka mmadi wa Bibele

The disciples find themselves in Galilee, a familiar place filled with memories of their time with Jesus. Yet, this moment on the mountain is different – Jesus is giving them a mission that will extend far beyond Galilee, to all the nations of the world. This mountain becomes a launching point for the global mission of the Church.

The significance of this place cannot be understated. It’s where Jesus, having overcome death, stands in his authority and commissions his followers to continue his work. The location is not just a backdrop but a symbolic reminder that God often uses specific places to call us into his purposes. Galilee, once a region of everyday life for the disciples, now becomes the place where they receive the charge to transform the world.

Jesus’ command to “go and make disciples of all nations” is both daunting and inspiring. It reminds us that our faith is not just for us but is meant to be shared. The places we inhabit – our communities, workplaces, and even our online spaces – are the mission fields where we are called to live out this commission. As we go about our daily lives, we carry with us the responsibility and privilege of sharing the love of Christ with others.

The promise Jesus gives at the end of this passage is crucial: “Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” This assurance is not tied to a specific place; it extends to wherever we go. As we step out in faith to fulfil the Great Commission, we do so with the confidence that Jesus is with us. His presence empowers us, guides us, and sustains us, no matter where we are.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for the Great Commission and the promise of your presence. Help me to see the places where I live, work, and interact as opportunities to share your love and truth. May I fulfil your mission with faithfulness and joy, knowing that you are always by my side. In your holy name, Amen.
